TAKE A DRIVE DOWN.... Sydney road, Brunswick. I hate the heat (15 days over 30deg....aargh!). What to do I say?? So I call a friend & we take a 'foodie drive'. We start with lunch at Tiba's (504 Sydney rd), the BEST kibbeh, falafel, babaganoush, tabbouleh & chickpea salad EVER. An absolute must. Then its next door to Mediterranean Wholesalers for pasta, smallgoods, 20 types of parmesan, tomatoes every style (sauce, paste, chopped, whole, passata & on) & a damn good espresso. Italian Nonna's heaven. (482 Sydney rd).
Well the day needs to end on a high. So off to Balha's pastry (761 Sydney rd) for suger syrup dipped filo pastry delights oozing with crushed pistachios in a any shape you like!
Well. Thats what I did today. Cross the Yarra, take the family & thank me later.
